Nestled in the coastal retreat of Hyams Beach, this garden was designed to bring a Balinese-inspired holiday feel to a modern duplex. The client envisioned a relaxed, inviting space with tropical elements, seating areas, and a firepit, all with views from above to enhance the visual appeal. Manuka Gardens executed this vision with a blend of lush plantings and hardscaping, transforming the property into a coastal sanctuary. Despite logistical and seasonal challenges, the project was completed quickly and efficiently, much to the client’s delight.
The front garden and entry of this modern duplex showcase a striking blend of sculptural plants, including a blooming aloe tree that enhances the home’s architectural lines. Sandstone retaining walls and layered plantings add depth and natural elegance, creating a welcoming, low-maintenance space that reflects a coastal style. This thoughtful arrangement of yellows and greens invites guests with its vibrant, textured charm.
At the heart of the backyard is a cozy firepit surrounded by lush tropical plantings, offering a secluded space to unwind. A custom timber bench wraps around the firepit and is underlit to add a warm, ambient glow after dark. This seating area provides both style and function, blending seamlessly into the garden’s tropical landscape and enhancing the holiday vibe with a touch of evening warmth.
